Additional Resources for Students

  • Everyday English Program - The Language Center, in conjunction with ISO and the Snyder Fund, has developed the Everyday English Program to help GWU international students improve their conversational English skills. The Everyday English Program consists of weekly conversation times where students can practice their conversational English. Conversation sessions are every Wednesday from 11:30 to 1:00 at the Marvin Center.
  • Foreign Language Tutoring - The foreign language tutors now work directly with their respective parent departments. Student tutors are a combination of native speakers and second-language learners and come from a various GW schools.
  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutoring - EAP Writing Tutors are now located within the Gelman Writing Center. The University Writing Center offers members of the GW community opportunities to receive dedicated attention to their writing and research projects at all stages of the writing process.. EAP Writing Tutors work with non-Native English speakers to focus on issues particular to international students.
  • GW Campus Resources for International Students - This is a resource guide for international students who are enrolled at GW. It includes academic and language support tools as well as student organizations which give opportunities to practice English and public speaking.
  • The Language Exchange - The Language Center hosts the Language Exchange, available to any member of the GWU community learning a language. The Language Exchange is designed for those who wish to practice a foreign language with others at GWU.
  • The Sigur Center for Asian Studies - Students can practice their East Asian language skills, share study tips, and learn about the Elliott School's Foreign Language Proficiency Exams for graduate students.
